You have two options when you want to create a will or last testament. You can either do it yourself or you can hire a qualified estate planning attorney. You can ask your friends, family and your extended network of contacts for a referral to a good estate planning lawyer. For do it yourself wills, however, there are several options available ranging from the actual paper forms with basic instructions to more sophisticated estate planning software.

Do it yourself wills

There are several providers of do it yourself wills including providers such as Legal zoom .com and Socrates Media. Both offer downloadable paper forms (usually as a PDF) for a fee.

Estate Planning Software

Quicken offers an estate planning software and book combo (Quicken

Willmaker Plus) that covers all the basics of estate planning, including wills, in the book, while the software contains a library of forms that goes beyond will forms and power of attorney forms to include authorizations and agreements, promissory notes, and child and elder care forms. There is typically an interview or a series of questions in the software that you answer along the way and the software will fill the form for you at the end of the interview. There is direct link to the latest edition to the right.
